So I finally got around to editing the photos of my piece at the SAIC 2013 Undergraduate BFA Exhibition. It’s better in person, so I’ll try and explain. The piece is 16 silkscreen fabric panels hung in a 7 ’ by 7’ rectangle. The exterior panels depict the surface of the ocean and the sea beneath. The interior panels (shown here) depict a graphic narrative of a mermaid, a diver, and a shipwreck. Thanks to Bronte Price for the beautiful photographs.

Cover design for the 2013 issue of Bluestem! Bluestem, formerly KARAMU, has been published since 1966 and is produced by the English Department at Eastern Illinois University. KARAMU has won several awards from the Illinois Arts Council. It is a wonderful book of poems, short stories, and for the first time this issue, a comic! Subscribe to the print issue at http://www.bluestemmagazine.com/

All the World is Green: A Tom Waits Tribute Comic

Sooooo… this is what I have been working on! All of the words are lyrics from Tom Waits’ amazing song, All the World Is Green. The characters are how I interpret the song. I hope you guys like it. This comic is not printed yet but I will let you know when I finalize the paper version.

Coming soon!

Hello! In preparation for the Art Sale I will be posting pictures every day, from now until the sale opens to the general public Friday Nov 15th, of items I will have for purchase! I sincerely hope that some of you will choose to come by and visit the sale and see what some of SAIC’s talented students have to offer in terms of potential christmas gifts!

Above are earrings made from plywood and MDF. These earrings are prints of drawings of mine, etched into solid material by a 150 W laser cutter. Earrings include ships, waves, and waves with the following quote: “I thought the wind and waves would wash their way through my skin and salt my soul.”

This is an installation by my mother in our home! She put up a quote from my comic “Boat Song” (you can read it in the online Spring Issue of Bluestem Magazine) with movie theater letters.
